Work created during my Japan residency in 2017

During my residency in Japan I wanted to work on a project influenced by the places I visited there. I do embroidery on images printed on canvas but this time I wanted to combine my embroidery with painting. I packed 5 small canvases, painting and embroidery materials. During my stay there I did a lot of photography, which I used as references for my paintings. My projects are never planned out in detail they evolve spontaneously.

For my installation I collected found objects from the places I visited they were in some way also a source of inspiration. I would paint during daytime and at night I would work on my embroidery. I managed to complete all my canvases and installation before my return to Pakistan. Studio Kura arranged an exhibition for the participants. Here are some images of my work in progress.
